I don’t know about you but you may have a good supply of Wacky Mac from previous double coupon freebies. If you are looking for great Christmas Gifts to make and everyone gives sweets, then this is a perfect gift to warm their heart and tummy!
This can be placed in a quart mason jar, with a ribbon and a recipe card attached. Perfect!
Hearty Pasta Soup Mix
½ cup dry split peas
2 tbsp chicken bouillon granules
½ cup dry lentils
2 tbsp dried minced onion
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried parsley flakes
1 envelope savory herb with garlic soup mix or vegetable soup mix
2 cups uncooked tricolor spiral pasta
In a 1 qt. glass container, layer the first seven ingredients in the order listed. Place the past in a 1 qt. re-sealable plastic bag; add to the jar. Seal tightly. Yield one batch
Additional Ingredients needed:
10 cups water
3 cups cubed cooked chicken
1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes undrained
To prepare soup:
Remove pasta from top of jar and set aside. Place water in a pan, (or Dutch oven), stir in soup mix, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 mintues. Add the chicken, tomatoes and the pasta. Cover and simmer 15-20 minutes or until pasta, peas and lentils are tender. Yield 14 servings, 3 ½ quarts.
Oh and by the way this freezes well.
