Book Review for The Beginning Reader's Bible, Published by Thomas Nelson

I chose this book for my son because he is a very active child and this book has really helpful activities for my son to do after we read a story from the New or Old Testament. Also at the end of each Bible story are prayers for the child to pray and a verse to memorize. This is really important to me because like I said I need hands on type of learning for my son. Even if your son is not the hyper-go-lucky child mine is you will be sure to enjoy this book as a great change of pace.

For instance one of the activities was to “Do God’s Word, “by taking a piece of paper and a pencil and go outside. There count how many things they see that were created by God, and then draw a picture of something they are thankful that God created. I love that, and so did my son he thought he was on a quest or and adventure. He is only four years old but he was so excited by these adventures.

The first thing you will notice about the book is it's fabulous illustrations.  It is no wonder the illustrations are fabulous, since the book was illustrated by Marijke ten Cate. She has illustrated several other great children’s books. I loved the illustrations in this book and when you have good eye catching illustrations it really provided a great recourse for conversation with your children. My son was so impressed with the illustrations he would ask an inquisitive question like what is that guy doing, or why did they do that. I like that the pictures even started a conversations with him, basically that is starting conversations about God!

I think this is a great beginning Bible and I am sure you will too. I have a couple of concerns but they are just housekeeping, and can be adjusted in the next printing. The table of contents in the front of the book lists page numbers, but there are not any numbered pages. Secondly in the Noah story there is a miss print, it is printed Gd, instead of God. Like I said they are just small little concerns that are easily fixed.

In the back of the book, are songs which is fun, and also a reading chart that your children can sign off on each time they finish a story from the Old and New Testament. There are more great resources in the back of the book that can make learning fun for your child. I think that you will be happy with the book as much as we were, and I am not the only one that thinks so because the average blogger rating for this book is four and a half stars! That is really good! I also gave the book the same rating of four and a half stars.

If you would like to purchase the book on Amazon go HERE and it is listed as only $14.19
