TLC Extreme Couponing Or "Real Life"

Tonight is another new episode of TLC Extreme Couponing.

It is something that either makes you excited about saving or makes you cringe.

Some folks describe this show like a train wreck, being something that is SO extreme you watch because it is hard to turn away.

But take into account that no one would watch if I or most of the other coupon users were on the show, we are not EXTREME and would not get ratings like this.   In fact most of the coupon blogging world is talking about it on their blogs in one way or another.

What I want to share with you is that you can save thousands of dollars if you use coupons too, but you don't have to go to the EXTREME like they do on the show.

If you are just starting out Go HERE to learn about coupons.

But the basics are this:

Watch the sales each week, when an item goes on sale pair it with a coupon to get the best deal.

Stores that double and triple coupons make those deals even better!

Some stores let you stack a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon together for one item

Find out what your store's coupon policies are

When you get a good deal stock up, because they won't go on sale like that again for several months.

Buy fruits and vegetables that are in season, grow your own and freeze or can

CellFire will let you load coupons directly to your stores value card

Coupons.com has tons of PRINTABLE coupons to help you get the best deal

You can preview what coupons will come out in the Sunday's paper inserts HERE

There are plenty of ways to save and you don't have to become a Crazy Coupon Lady to do it.

Find a local blog in your area that posts deals each week for the stores you shop at and plan your trips around the deals.  Soon you will have a small stockpile of your own!

If you don't know just ask!   If I can help you I will!

  1. I've watched that show a couple of times now and I get the feeling that couponing is almost like an addiction for these people. It's all about looking at the sales receipt when it's over, and it's not about what products they really need or can use. Like you said . . it's not really a depiction of the "real life" of most frugal coupon using folks.

  2. You are right Bev. The totals at the end of their receipts are AWESOME, but I don't buy most of the stuff that was in their carts. I have had awesome receipts before too, and it does give you a bit of a "rush," so you are probably right they are addicted to it.

Also I have been slowly eliminating foods in our house that are unhealthy so I won't buy those items now even if they are free. :) You can still save on good for ya foods but you have to work harder at it.

Thank you for the great comments, I always appreciate them. This is a family blog, and some folks seem to forget that so I had to ad word verification to keep spam at bay and moderate all comments to remove adult content that is unwelcome on my blog. Thanks for your understanding.
